OLD AGE

Well, today I turned 43. I can hardly believe how quickly time has gone by. Yesterday my friend Shelly and I went out for lunch and then to our favorite country store. We followed that up with a trip to the mall and a Starbuck's coffee. It was a beautiful day! We haven't been able to spend much time together lately and it was so nice to just spend an afternoon with no pressure to be somewhere or have something done by a certain time. We had a very relaxing time. She looked very nice, and me......well, let's just say my candle didn't shine quite so brightly. :) Right now I am watching two of my grandchildren while their mother is at the store. They are both sleeping so I have it pretty easy. Tonight the youth from church are coming over for games. That should be lots of fun. We have a really great group of young people. Not doing much for my birthday but I don't mind. At my age there isn't a whole lot to celebrate. ;) Well, I must sign off.

God's Protection

Hello to everyone. I would like to just brag on my Lord for a little while. Yesterday, the weather was quite bad here. My husband was driving to church with my son Zach and two other teen boys from church when he hit black ice. He was coming up on two cars that were turned the opposite way, so he tried to slow down, but instead the truck started weaving back and forth. He hit both cars, they were stopped and blocking both lanes, and then spun and hit the concrete abutment. The airbags deployed and -praise the Lord- no one was hurt. Mark's truck sustained the most damage. We believe it is totalled. He and Zach both have slight cuts on the tops of their heads from the airbags deploying. Zach has a ringing ear from the air bag. I think this is due to his ear sensitivity from his eardrum bursting when he was about 5. Mark is also bruised and sore on the left side of his body, including a sore and weak wrist and a very sore and sensitive knee. The other boys from our church, Ben and Dominic, are both doing well. Dom bumped his chin and has a slight abrasion on it; Ben bumped his knee(not surprising with his long legs) and is fine. There were over 67 crashes in Calgary alone that day. Not to mention all over the province.
We are thankful that he was driving a truck and not the church van. No telling how bad the injuries would have been then, because there were six other vehicles involved, five of which were trucks as well. The whole front end of the truck is smashed in as well as the driver's side.
Our missions conference starts on Sunday. We know the Devil would love to ruin it before it even starts. I am looking forward to what God is going to do this coming week.
Today I am busy getting things ready for the conference and our company. Pastor Keenan is staying with us and I am making meals for all the missionaries (15-20) each night. I feel like time is running out, but I know the Lord will give me the strength to finish what needs to be done in time. I will try to write again when the week is complete.

Life in October

Well, the school year has started and it seems to be going fine. It is different not teaching Ben. He is doing online school this year. Last night,October 1, Brother Newman preached. What a blessing and a help he was. He preached on preparing ourselves to meet the Lord. SO practical and helpful. We are gearing up for Missions Conference in two weeks. Lots of music practice. Sometimes I feel as though I am going in circles. Then my friend shows up and smiles and makes my day a bit brighter. Thank you for being you Shelly. I miss you since you are gone to Texas for a visit. I am looking forward to a cup of coffee and a visit. Eager to hear about your trip. Bye for now.
